INTERNATIONAL SPICE CONFERENCE – THE WORLD’S LARGEST KNOWLEDGE DISSEMINATION PLATFORM FOR THE GLOBAL SPICE FRATERNITY.

In a world where food safety standards are challenging and the industrial environment is rapidly evolving, addressing the concerns and imbalances of the industry by its stakeholders is not a choice but an imperative. Ensuring the sustainability of crops and improving the livelihood of the farmers is also a collective responsibility. It is in this context that All India Spices Exporters Forum (AISEF) came up with the idea of the International Spice Conference with a view to providing a platform for all stakeholders of the Global Spice Industry – business houses, spice organisations, policy makers, farmers and end users – to address their issues and interact with each other.

Today it has grown to become the World’s Largest Knowledge Dissemination and unifying platform for the global spice fraternity. Four successful editions of the conference are already over and these have had their positive impact on the industry and its stakeholders. The four editions have sequentially evolved on its theme as a continuing and dedicated string of thought. The first edition of the International Spice Conference had ‘Decoding spices in the 21st Century’ as its theme and it talked about quality, collaboration and adaptability as the three critical factors. The second and the third editions had ‘21st Century Spice Industry – Disrupt or be Disrupted’ as its theme and ‘Managing Disruptions through Transformation and Collaboration’ as their respective themes. The fourth edition, ISC 2019, had ‘Challenges of Change – Redefining the Value Chain’ as its theme. It deliberated on challenges due to Changes in consumer’s preferences, the infusion of technology in business changing the operational dynamics and   Government rules and regulations, different international quality standards and terms of trades throwing up newer obstacles for spice industry. One of the unique features of ISC 2019 was the Innovation Pavilion and ISC Innovation Awards intended to provide impetus to innovations that help the industry perform better.

The fifth edition, ISC 2020 was planned for being held at Kochi, the Spice Capital of the World from March 8, 2020 to March 11 at Bolgatty Grand Hyatt, Kochi, Kerala. The Theme of ISC 2020 was, ‘Beyond Traditions: Shaping a New Spice World’ .  We had a line up over 900 delegates registering for ISC 2020, however it had to be cancelled at the last moment due to the breakout of the Covid Pandemic.  The crop report was however shared with all delegates as per schedule.

As we did not find any respite in the Covid pandemic situation world over, we conducted the ISC 2021 as a virtual event like most other prime conferences world over.  The virtual event provided the connect for all stakeholders of spice fraternity which they missed since ISC 2019.  The theme for ISC VC 2021 was "Beyond Traditions : Shaping a New Spic World".

ISC 2022 was planned as a Hybrid event from 2nd March 2022 to 4th March 2022 at Bolgatty Grand Hyatt, Kochi, Kerala.  The Theme of the Conference was "The New Normal & Beyond".  The Conference was planned to address impact of Covid 19 on the Spice industry and discuss the affect of Pandemic on the global economy and its repercussions on trade and food security.  However, the Conference was cancelled as there was no respite in the covid pandemic.  The crop report was however shared with all delegates.

After 3 years of digital meeting and hybrid events we had now planned ISC 2023 at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai for January 19-22, 2023 with the theme "Reboot N' Rebound - Beyond the New Normal".

Stay tuned for more updates !
